Knot It Out....Knot It Outttt...

After wearing my Bantu Knots for a few days, I wanted to wear a BAntu Knot out. I absolutely LOVED the results...I will probably be wearing this hair style a lot more over the summer since it easy to manage, and its off of my neck!

Stay tuned for a post/tutorial on how I made this Fishtail Skirt.

Nubian Knots.

Nubian knots, also known as "Bantu" knots is a popular hairstyle worn by many naturals. I had the honor of trying this hairstyle for the first time since I have been natural. I must tell you....I loved it. I did them on a random day, just because I wanted to do something different with my hair.

I rocked my hair like this for about 2 days, then untwisted them.....stay tuned for my post on my Bantu Knot Out....

Hair So Long That It Look Like Weave....

Sew-In by ForeverRikk
Yesterday I gave my roommate a sew in....most people don't know that I actually do hair, well I do. Sew-In's are a great protective hair style for naturals and for those who have a relaxer. It keeps you from applying heat to your hair daily, which causes damage, and can stunt the growth of your natural hair, and it also allows your hair to breathe! Staying out of your hair is one of the easiest ways to just allow your hair to grow!

But here is the process that I go through to do a full sew-in (hair extensions):

1. I start off with medium/small braids going straight too the back.

Leaving the desired amount of hair that the client wants left out.  For a more natural look.

2. I sew on a net over the braids for protection

A net will help the sew in last longer, because you will not have direct contact with the braids in your sew-in.

3. I start sewing the hair from the nape of the neck, working my way up.

I make sure I put the needle and thread through the track then through the braid.

4. Once I finish sewing the hair in I usually curl the extensions for the client.

Once the curls fell...

Southern Hospitality.

Many of you may not know, but I am originally from the south. My mother's side of the family is from Alabama, and my father's side of the family is from Illinois. Well long story short, I miss my southern roots. I was born in Tuscaloosa, AL and I just LOVE the south. Everything is really better, the food, the weather, the scenery, I could go on all day. Recently I made a visit down south to the well known city of HOTlanta, GA, or more formally known as Atlanta.

Seriously, I can not begin to describe the love that I have gained for this city after only being there 3 times. I fell in love the very first day I went back in Feb. 2011. Just from the shopping to the eating to the people, the weather....MY GOODNESS! I had on shorts in Feb. But the best part about ATL is the night life!!! I met so many people, from some of my fav YT subbies to celebs.

I just want to teleport back.....like yesterday.

DIY- Shoulder Cut Out Shirt

So as I was going through my old button up shirts one day, I found a shirt that I got from the thrift store a while back. I seriously never wore this shirt.....so as I always do, I thought of another way to revive it. So I decided to cut out the shoulders of the shirt to turn it into something a little more edgy.

The finished product above, I didn't actually make a video of what I did but I got the idea from one of my fav YT vloggers and will post the video below!!!

Here was the process:

What I Wore.....

The weather in IL is def warming up....but it's still a tad bit chilly out here in the Midwest. So the other day while I was helping my friend with a project for his Photojournalism class I decided to take a few snap shots of myself. It was a beautiful day on Eastern Illinois University's campus, so why not.

Don't mind my face, the sun was shining right on me.
